How to be gym confident as a woman 😎
Entering the gym for the first time can be a daunting prospect, especially for a woman.... I know as I have be through that process as well! Lot's of questions race through your mind. Who will be there? Is anyone watching me? What machines do I use? Am I doing the exercises correctly? I don't want to make a fool of myself. Help!! 🆘
But with the right approach and guidance it doesn't have to be as traumatic as your mind makes it out to be. In this article I've given my top tips for entering the gym and hopefully it will put you a little more at ease when you come to take that first step 🫶
💪 Tips for being confident in the gym 💪
My tips for how to be gym confident as a woman:
Start with a Plan: Having a workout plan can help you stay focused and reduce uncertainty. If you don't have a plan you'll be wandering around the gym like a lost sheep 🐑, you won't achieve anything and you'll just feel a little silly. I wonder who can help with that 😉
Be Consistent: The more you go to the gym, the more comfortable you'll become. Consistency helps build familiarity and confidence.
Don't over commit: If you go in with the mindset that you are going to smash 6 workouts a week and you don't, you'll soon lose motivation. Start off small and gradually build up.
Go with a Friend: Having a workout buddy can make the gym experience more enjoyable and less intimidating. They can provide support and encouragement.
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Wearing clothes that you feel good in can boost your confidence. Choose outfits that are comfortable and appropriate for your workout.
Ask for Help: If you're unsure about something, don't hesitate to ask gym staff (they don't bite) or other gym-goers. Most people are happy to help.
Focus on Yourself: Remember that everyone is at the gym for their own reasons. Try not to compare yourself to others. Focus on your progress and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small.
Practice Positive Self-Talk: Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Remind yourself of your strengths and the progress you've made, even stepping into the gym for the first time is progress!
Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. This can boost your confidence and keep you motivated.
Get lost in the music: Put together a motivational playlist. I personally find I get lost in my music and it blocks out what is going on around me, it also helps me to get focused 🎧
